Learning became more interactive at Spring Valley!
The Schaumburg Park Foundation dedicated new exhibits at the Nature Museum at Spring Valley, 1111 E. Schaumburg Road, on Feb. 6. The exhibits included two replica oak trees complete with model backyard animals, a new interactive backyard habitats exhibit and a new way to learn about the inhabitants and happenings at Spring Valley.
“The new exhibits helped modernize the museum and allow for an updated way of learning for the area’s youngest minds,” said Pat Casler, executive vice president of the Foundation. “Phase one has been a true success.”
The addition of the exhibits is part of the first phase of the Foundation’s campaign to renovate the outdated nature museum. Funding for the project was provided by the Foundation and the Public Museum Capitals Grants Program of the Illinois Department of Nature Resources, Illinois State Museum.
The continued renovations will allow for children to have an interactive experience with modern technology while immersing themselves in nature. The museum also is home to a nature library with hundreds of books, interactive displays, mounted examples of wildlife and a re-creation of a wetland habitat with native turtles.
